Dont rag on UPS. Think of the volume they handle. Consider many are using their holiday pay and presents to order online goods. Consider you could have possibly went to the dealership. Also, the ends of the item could have been taped and mated with styrofoam to avoid damage.
Volume? What? They're a shipping company. It's what they do.
I managed a warehouse for several years back in the 90's. I've seen the aftermath of many UPS screw-ups. The only thing that they can't break, while in their possession, is an anvil.... and I'm sure they've tried.
