Broke bleeder valve

I was trying to change and bleed the brake fluid on a 98 avenger. I ended up breaking one of the valves.

I guess it's no big deal, just means I can't bleed that one caliper and since the valve was never opened. I am in no big trouble.


Is there replacement for a valve or do you have to replace the entire caliper?

Also I overfilled the reservoir with fluid because fluid was pushed out everywhere when I closed the cap. Should this be a concern?

OH I just realized I wasn't suppose to let the pedal travel all the way down to the floor as I was bleeding it. Ooops


I hope the master cylinder will be ok.

Best thing to do is wait for the next pad change, and exchange the calipers. No matter how much you play with the fluid, the rubber parts get old and fail to protect the parts of the caliper not wetted with the fluid. Real maintenance means replace/rebuild the caliper at least every few pad changes.

There are bleeder screw fix kits at auto parts stores.
They require drilling and tapping, then installing a new seat and bleeder screw.
Your fluid will mix/flush pretty well if you keep the master cyl clean and full of fresh fluid, though. There is a lot of movement in the system.
So it's probably best right now to leave it alone.
