Breaking in new vehicle with VRP

I purchased a new Silverado and have read all the hype concerning Valvoline R&R. I have 2000 miles on the truck and considering changing oil to R&R prior to the dealerships free 7500 oil change. Do you think it would be advisable to start using this oil on a new vehicle

So long as VRP meets GM's specifications, go for it. I see no downside if it meets specs and doesn't cost more. 5K OCIs, same as any brand.

Also too, 2K miles on a brand new motor. I'd definitely change the oil and filter.

It was the first and second oil change on my brand new 2025 F150, and it will just keep getting used from here on out.

First change at 1000 miles, and then we proceeded to tow our travel trailer over 4000 miles, which ate up 77% of the oil life according to the OLM, changed the oil when we got back home at a little over 5k and will stick with 5k changes here on out.

Truth be told, we went on a short camping trip when the truck had something like 200 miles on it, but it was only 100 miles total.

Probably the hardest I've ever worked a new vehicle, although I generally subscribe to the 'drive it hard, but don't abuse it' school of break-in thought. The 2003 Accord that I bought new still runs like a top at 300k+ so there's that.

I'd at least wait some amount of time. I'm using euro rated 0/5w-40 in my 2021's 6.2 instead of awful 0w-20 and the ring cleanliness is much better than cheap dexos 1 gen 3 oils which can be made in a synthetic blend oil and isn't impressive. After 46k no increase in oil consumption at all. It does use a little like always but hasn't increased so I don't bother adding during the interval.

Right now a fabulous choice being castrol 0w-40 is on sale for 23.97 on walmart and amazon with free shipping available. Walmart is out of stock so Amazon it is.
