Brake fluid to remove wax residue on rubber trim

Tried wax and grease remover which did nothing. Tried some brake fluid and it worked. Obviously don't get it on paint. This was on the back window molding next to the glass so not an issue.

Might need to go over it a few more times, but better than it was before.

My father told me once they used brake fluid on rubber items and as tire dressing back in the day

I don’t remember posting this but the caution of using around painted surfaces still applies.

Again, it’s not something I would do.
 
I've used pink pencil erasers to remove wax residue like that on black plastic. I'm not sure if it would work on a pliable seal like that, but it could be worth a shot?
