Bosch in General

To reiterate a couple posted points:

1. Bosch makes components for other manafactures relabeled in there name.

For example Bosch 02 Sensors have the same AC stamp as the GM "blue-bag" parts bin 02 sensors. Obviously some kind of distribution interplay is happening. Same thing happens with A1 Cardone products (ie Wagner-Federal Mogul loaded Reman-Calipers)

Certain ProStart 100% new Starters are made by Bosch.

2. On Quality, it all comes down to the product line. Personally, I use AC Delco, Federated(Brake Parts + Raybestos) and Bosch for most OEM replacement parts. I have no experiance with the plugs. Online reading suggest the Bosch wires are quality items.

Bosch MicroEdge Excel Wipers

Bosch 100% new Starter

Bosch ABS modulation unit

Bosch oil filter

I just pulled the Bosch Supers out of my Volvo Turbo. I had been having some driving issues. Stumbling, low power at lower rpms, a plateau at around 3,500 then would run fine up to 5K rpms with no problems. After reading a post bad mouthing the Bosch plugs another Volvo driver had in his car I pulled mine and replaced them with a set of OEM's from the dealer. The car has never run better. Also my normal 18-19 mpg winter mileage has improved to 21-22 mpg.

Bosch +4 are a waste of money from what a few ford techs told me (and an electrician). Electricity is lazy and will find the easiest path to take. There is no way ALL 4 electrode will fire, one will have the easiest path and maybe arc off to the next but that’s it. Kinda like a miss in a spark plug wire under a load, electricity hits some resistance then instantly finds the easy way out. Also for performance applications I would run coppers instead of platinum’s, coppers seem to conduct better over platinum’s imo. .02

I think Bosch is junk. I had a set of bosch platinum +2's fry in 2 weeks from normal driving in my old caravan. I also had one of their oxegen sensors cause my car to run really lean (got 425 miles per tank in a 94 bonneville). I liked the gas mileage, but it had NO power. I have never really had the pleasure of owning a bosch product that I liked or worked.

Hmm, I'd only consider Denso or NGK Iridiums to replace my plugs with. I'm wondering if anyone here has NGK IX Iriduims in their car?

true, but I think the idea is when the "path of least resistance" electrode erodes away it finds the next one and so on. This keep the gap from going bigger and extends the service life, which is why they are used in many "100,000 mile tuneup" motors. It is deceptive when the marketing depts show pics of all 4 electrodes being fired and use wording to imply hotter spark.

Pablo, I have seen this also said before, not sure if it was by you previously. let me set the record straight... Bosch DOES have factories. Otherwise what would that Bosch plant on Dorchester road in North charleston, SC be? Or the Bosch Plant in Sumter, SC. Or the few others Bosch plants that I have made pickup or deliveries to in this country. In no way am i saying that they don't contract out work, but they sure as heck have factories.
