Young Johnny had completed driver's ed and gotten his license. He approached his father with some trepidation. "Dad, you know I have my license now, I was just wondering if I could take the car out for a little drive."
"Well, son," says the Dad, "you know, I'd really like to see your grades come up a little. Also, you've been falling behind on your chores around the house. I'd like to see you read your Bible more often, and get a haircut."
Johnny troops off to get started. Two weeks later, he approaches his father again. "Dad, my grades are up in all my classes, my chores are caught up, and I've been reading my Bible every day. What do you say?"
His Dad looks him over. "Yes, Johnny, I've noticed all that, and I'm quite pleased. But what about that haircut?"
Johnny is quick with an answer. "Dad, in my Bible reading, I've noticed that some of the great men of the Bible had long hair. There's Samson, John the Baptist, and a lot of people think that Jesus had long hair."
Dad thinks it over. "You know, son, you are absolutely correct. Did you also notice that none of them drove a car?"
