I idled the car for a awhile to get it warm before taking the sample. It wasnt full oil temp. wasnt a complete cold start since the car had been driven 3 hours or so earlier. I understand this isnt ideal but with kids the time i have to do this stuff is at night after they are in bed, in the dark, with a flashlight...
Here are some reports that look ok for this engine but have lower flashpoints as well. Not sure what to make of it. This car gets driven for 30-40min in city traffic twice a day then has fairly frequent highway trips. Oil temps on these cars can be in the 240F range on the freeway.
I have no idea how one diagnoses a DI injector for this type of behavior.
385F flashpoint. Trace fuel finding

I thought this sample was lost in the mail, and lo and behold it showed up. I also have an OA sample of the same fill to post as soon as I can get them to post it to my portal. So, there will be more fodder for discussion on this, once I put it up.
Have at it, gents!

Thought I would share my past vehicles UOA. On my 2013 bmw 328ix sport N20B20 I ran an AFE momentum intake and BMS+ plug in box (opened and turned up to +4 psi). Ran it like this from 72k to 110k and just wanted to check up on it. This N20 had the typical harmonic balance pulley wobble of a few MM (yes, I replaced it with a new oem pulley too and it did not change). Yes, it sounded like a diesel clacking at idle from the injectors, and had cold piston slap too for anyone who owns one checking this later. As far as I know this "doomed" from the factory engine never had the timing chains or...

Interesting how this BMW 5w30 oil sample sheared so much compared to the previous sample which was BMW 0w20. Seems like fuel dilution based on the flashpoint. Lot of idling (napping baby / toddler ) short trips but many small road trips 100 to 300 mile one way this interval. However car had been used the same in both oil samples.
