Neighbor bought one of these. Beautiful car and color. I like these matte finishes I'm seeing. Is that from the factor or are these cars wrapped?

BMW has a series of paint colors they refer to as "Frozen ______". Very sharp colors. IIRC there's also a Frozen Gray.

I saw another car recently that had a matte finish. I really like the look over the usual gloss.

Both. From my experience it's about 90/10 wraps vs factory paint. The issue is that the factory paint is not easy to maintain so BMW owners often opt for the wrap which can be removed.

BMW has a huge palette of custom paint colors to choose from but it'll cost about $6k.

I highly prefer matte finish on most things, but I would be hesitant to have it on a car that isn't a weekend toy because as has been said they require a lot more maintenance... Or at least they don't hold up to neglect, which may be a better way of saying it.

Engine, transmission, suspension.... all the same. What more maintenance would they need?

That is a limited edition color BMW frozen edition paint .
According to several automotive paint ordering sites it's roughly $217 per quart or 868 a gallon. That and the link to BMW's care instructions are fairly long and detailed. No automatic car washes, no buffing, and only the use of specialty cleaners.

Matte looks cool on HIS car, would not want on any of mine. Im just to lazy to baby paint like that.

Hyundai offered a matte option on the Veloster several years ago. Taking care of it was an issue. I believe they even sold a special kit at the dealer that customers could buy to properly care for it. It looks great, but I wouldn't want the hassle.

The matte looks interesting at first glance. But I wouldn’t own car with it for the long run.

I like the blue better than the matte black AMG Mercedes I saw recently.

Matte finishes always look like the polishers went on strike and the automakers are marketing them as “matte” until the union comes back to work, a la colt in the 80’s.

I like some of the matte finishes on someone else’s car. Too much hassle to keep it looking nice for me.
