Come from factory like that per the window sticker when they are new. Seen some MB’s like that also. Certain colors look great with a matte finish including blue.
Both. From my experience it's about 90/10 wraps vs factory paint. The issue is that the factory paint is not easy to maintain so BMW owners often opt for the wrap which can be removed.
BMW has a huge palette of custom paint colors to choose from but it'll cost about $6k.

My friend who owns a detailing business said the same.
These satin finishes are extremely difficult to apply, no room for even one mistake or one spec of dirt as you cannot scuff and buff this out.
I have done a couple over the years and it is frustrating, I am in no rush to ever do one again.

With some wet sanding and a buffer, that should shine quite nicely.
I highly prefer matte finish on most things, but I would be hesitant to have it on a car that isn't a weekend toy because as has been said they require a lot more maintenance... Or at least they don't hold up to neglect, which may be a better way of saying it.
Engine, transmission, suspension.... all the same. What more maintenance would they need?

The finish doesn't stand up to bird droppings, water spots, scratches etc as well as gloss does. Also much tougher/impossible to touch up.

According to several automotive paint ordering sites it's roughly $217 per quart or 868 a gallon. That and the link to BMW's care instructions are fairly long and detailed. No automatic car washes, no buffing, and only the use of specialty cleaners.

The Matte paints don't do anything for me. Much prefer the glossy paint on our BMW's.

Hyundai offered a matte option on the Veloster several years ago. Taking care of it was an issue. I believe they even sold a special kit at the dealer that customers could buy to properly care for it. It looks great, but I wouldn't want the hassle.

The matte looks interesting at first glance. But I wouldn’t own car with it for the long run.
I like the blue better than the matte black AMG Mercedes I saw recently.

I like some of the matte finishes on someone else’s car. Too much hassle to keep it looking nice for me.
