That doesn't make it any more right, and it sure as hell isn't by my choice. I don't either seek them out, or care if they're "mainstream" or not. The fact of the matter is both solar panels, and electric cars would both fall flat on their faces in this country, from both a business and a economic standpoint, if it weren't for government handouts.

They're pushing all this crap like there is no tomorrow. And they're doing it with money they, (we), don't have. The government produces nothing. They can't give anything to anyone unless they take it away from someone else. And Tesla has been spoon fed from the government more times than can be counted.

They wouldn't even be here if it weren't for the government printing and giving them money. Only now they're starting to turn a profit. It's even worse for these government subsidies they're paying out on these solar panels. Every Tom, ****, and Harry, is selling these things, because the government is paying for the bulk of it.

They've been throwing hundreds of billions of dollars down that rabbit hole for years. Solyndra ring a bell? The American taxpayer took over a half a billion dollar loss from that worthless dog with fleas alone. Stupid.

Yet another total, complete waste. It's one thing if our nation was awash with surplus cash that we didn't know what to do with, but it's not. Far from it. We've got a complete national infrastructure that's falling apart, and not so much as a dime to fix any of it. Roads and bridges are in danger of failing, and are unsafe. We can't even pave the bulk of our streets any longer.

I don't mind seeing my tax dollars going to pay for roads, police and fire protection, schools, the military, and even for medical care for those who can't afford it....... But I, and everybody else should help you pay for your solar panels? I don't think so. If you think this crap is all so great, that's fine. Then YOU pay for it. Not the U.S, taxpayer, who is already being milked to the bone.

If it takes the government giving years of handouts to make a product economically viable, then that product wasn't worth crap to begin with. You watch how fast 90+% of these "solar companies" go belly up, once the government money train leaves the tracks for good. And that day will come. And as far as I'm concerned, it can't come soon enough.
Very well stated and the road infrastructure is definitely in major need of upgrading... so many heavily traveled roads in our area just get repeated patches and rarely ever fully redone. More traffic along with likely heavier traffic going the EV route is just making things that much worse long term. I've definitely noticed much more truck/trailer traffic over the past few yrs likely to keep up with lame pandemic demand/hoarding and the roads are taking a serious beating. Yet the focus continues on solar, EV, climate change, abortion and whatever else that doesn't impact typical daily life that much... I also see TONS of housing development in areas already near max capacity based on infrastructure and yet it continues with little being done to upgrade the road conditions, traffic flow, electrical, etc... rant over for now, lmao...

Well said! We saw this some years ago with the other solar fiasco, a company started nearby, took all sorts of G money then bailed to China.
This is a money game that the taxpayers are funding and it is wrong on every level. This is just one example not to mention Solyndra, hey 10% for whoever the big guy is at the moment will get you a windfall of taxpayer cash.

Lucky you guys as far as solar…utility company here only allows 90% of your total usage.

Like electric cars, solar panels are of very limited value for much of the country.
Not for half the US population (California, SW US across Texas to S Carolina)

Excuse me, but one bad behavior doesn’t justify another. Nowhere in constitution it says we should have roads, let alone government to subsidize it.
I say government (at any level) should not subsidize roads and then pay per mile toll.

Well *** does the tax base go then? Just like the constant claims of state ran lotteries helping out education, etc. and it's far from that...

Also, stop using internet. It was developed with taxpayer “gratuity “ and still is heavily subsidized. Be a man! Take a stand.
And those living out of anything resembling city, should strictly use FedEx and UPS.

The Constitution has the Clause that includes the Freedom of Movement.

So this thing drives 620 miles on $66? At todays prices that is an improvement but at last years fuel prices that is not great. I still think this electric car adaption is a huge error in human history.
I wouldn't say the adaption is a huge error, but the perspective is 100% backwards.

It should be "look at what we have been able to accomplish with EVs, they would be great for certain use cases" which would be proven when they start replacing ICE cars in different applications because they ARE better.

Instead we have the "EVs are the future, they will replace everything" mentality, even when they are not better in all applications, and are not as "green" as they claim to be. The have advantages, but not significant enough to completely replace ICE in all applications. Anyone who claims that to be the case for a not fully developed technology has an agenda.

If they were truly better we wouldn't need all of this media trying to convince us.

Well then where the hell are they? Seriously. We've been screwing around with putting solar panels on houses in this country since 1973, 50 years ago. Yet today only 3.2% of single-family detached homes have installed solar panels. Residential solar also generates a smaller percentage of total US energy production, making up less than 1% of all energy production in 2021.

So........ These things are just so wonderful, that in half a century, less than 4% of the homes in the entire United States have them. And mind you that is only WITH literally billions of dollars of government money being continually pumped into this entire fiasco.

And 3.2% is the best they can come up with. And that is with modern improved output panels and all. That's not an "achievement", it a disaster. And it will become a total failure, just as soon as this idiotic government of ours comes to their senses, and stops pumping money they don't have into this gigantic, flea ridden dog.

If something is a great idea, that is bound to prosper, it doesn't require 50 years to establish a less than 4% foot hold in the marketplace. And can only achieve that dismal of a number, with literally billions in government subsidies being wasted on it.

Problem is 2nd day delivery mentality. EV’s are here? OK, they have to be equal or better.
People genuinely don’t understand evolution (for various reasons). No one limits anyone buying ICE or hybrid. Also, no one is entitled to buy vehicle. It is not a right. Manufacturers are not going to offer anything that doesn’t make business sense. There is no shortage of gas guzzling vehicles to buy. But, if hypothetically average EV range is 300mls and 80% charging takes 45min, it is fair to expect that in 15yrs, average range will double and charging cut in half.

Of course. Get on horse and move.

Well that’s silly. We have advanced since then.

Freedom to move about is a basic human right. Back in the 1800’s it was by stagecoach. Tomorrow it will be transporter or whatever they come up with.

It seems no manufacturer actually knows what they are doing these days and the idea of doing more but on a strict budget doesn't seem to be working.
Well you just can't change physics!! I still say these things are a fad and toys for the wealthy.

it could be on foot also. the right to move doesn't mean the right to use transport....

I am not sure about that argument. There is a lot of talk about going back to original thought. I won’t gl into details, but you know very well what it is.

Also, driving is not a right. You can be taken away your DL for various reasons. Just because you don’t have DL, doesn’t mean you cannot move. Public transportation, walking, biking, etc.
All this “government doesn’t have business here” is OK theoretically, or if it doesn’t fit “MY” needs.
