Is there any resson to remove, clean and recalibrate BMW fuel injectors at 138,000 miles. Or is there a test to see if they are a problem without removing them?

From Past UOA I found a fuel dilution issue? Perhaps an injector is leaking after shutdown?? Not sure how to approach this issue. Replacement seems to be overkill at over $100 each new. I need six. TIA

A home test is probably beyond the reach of most shadetree mechanics. There are many places that'll test, clean, and flow balance your injector set for about $25 per injector. A google search should bring up many choices where you can mail the injectors for service.

Fuel injectors work best when they are matched perfecty.
Yours may be OK, or they may not.
Testing is time consuming and exacting - it's for someone with special equipment.
Do you have the old CIS, or the new electronic injectors?

Have no idea. They are the original injectors installed in 1995. Here is is what one on-line shop (Fiveomotorsport)recommended. Have no idea if they are a good/reputable shop or not.

"Russell - I have reconditioned Bosch orginal equipment fuel injectors for your 95 525i.

Price is $259.50 plus $60 refundable core deposit.

Usually a simple cleaning is not recommended. The most common problems with the old parts are the coils breaking down or the seperation of the body parts that lets some fuel start to leak."

IF your injectors are dirty, it will make a big difference. I installed a reconditioned(cleaned off-car with proper equipment, and tested for flow volume and spray pattern) set of injectors just yesterday, my car runs smoother and definitely has more power. Mind you, my original injectors had about twice the mileage as yours, but the results are there. I ordered them from rockauto, $40 a piece. You can get it done cheaper if you have a spare set of injectors or can sit out some downtime on the car (I can't)

Good luck with the car.
