BMW 535d DEF cap not clicking when tightened

Hopefully one of you BMW diesel guys can help me out. All 3 of you. I just refilled the DEF tank on my 2016 BMW 535d, but when I reinstalled the DEF cap, it is not clicking closed, and it's very easy to unscrew as it is. I think it is supposed to click when tightened, but I'm not 100% sure; I don't remember from the last time I filled it. I don't want to risk breaking the cap by overtightening it. Any help is appreciated.

if you can break the cap with 1 hand well.. you needed a new one.

It won't click with my maximum hand tightening strength. I'm not sure how to determine if it should. The owner's manual is no help.

I seem to remember filling up the DEF on my X3d just took half a turn of the blue DEF cap, right next to the fuel fill. It didn't necessarily "click" into a locked position, it just stopped turning. It should really just be a two finger job (don't even...) that doesn't require any ooga booga's to tighten.

On my Bluetec, that's a different story altogether.

In any case, a quick lookup for an F10 LCI diesel shows the cap, which lists for $12.97… which means your typical local BMW dealer will probably charge $20 for it.
