On one of the Mac Forums I frequent, there is a monthly "Desktop Screenshot" thread, where members are encouraged to post their monthly desktop screenshot. I figured I would start a similar thread here. I'll start below; join in if you feel so inclined:

Almost all my wallpapers come from Windows 7 and from Interfacelift.com. I keep the wallpaper images in my Dropbox folder, so I can use them on any computer.

Do you have enough browsers in your dock, wavinwayne?!

This is my Debian Squeeze setup; running Openbox (with no panel and no window decorations - it's key combinations all the way!) The browser is Epiphany (Webkit) and also open is an xterm terminal to generate the screenshot and the Openbox menu behind the Epiphany window. On a clean boot it uses ~65MB RAM *with* the Avahi daemon running (to interface via Bonjour with a Mac in the house) and SSH and VNC servers. I also use xcompmgr for some rudimentary window shadows. This is on a refurbed $75 computer and it routinely out-performs our MacBook Pro in simple tasks like word processing and web surfing: I have very light, GTK-based applications for everything.

I am working now on integrating LXpanel to set up a lightweight OS for distribution to friends, family and neighbours. I'll grab a shot of my working version of it and post it shortly.

EDIT:

Here it is:

wavinwayne,

You've inspired me to go out and look for a new wallpaper and to clean up my desktop at the same time, which is what I've been meaning to do for a while. Thanks!

Yup! I didnt want a bloated program just to play my radio stream, since at the time I just had a old Pemtium 4. Didnt see any reason to get away from it when I upgraded.
