Alright I guess I will be that guy. What are chicken strips and what do they tell you?

If you didn't ask, I was going to. Maybe there are some things non-bikers are not meant to know. I'd ask my wife but she's out at Kohl's.

Chicken strips refer to the outside edge of a motorcycle tire that has no wear on it; indicating the rider never leans the bike far enough to ride on that edge; implying that person is too scared (or chicken) to do so.

Just one of those terms that is common among enthusiasts.

This is why I stopped riding sport bikes. Too much aesthetic BS and oneupping about trivial things, and 95% of the sportbike riders you see in traffic are just straight line riders anyway.

And funny enough, I have thinner chicken strips on my ADV bike than I did on my sport bikes for some reason.

You stopped riding sportbikes because of a joke meme?

Geeze, everyone's so serious.

It's okay, it's just a joke...

😁

Tons of respect for the sport bike riders who do it for skill and purpose and ride lawfully and respectfully on streets, but I found that crowd is also full of posers and little men who don't belong near machines, period.

I believe tire wear is evidence of a rider's comfort level while cornering... when I form up with an unknown
group of riders the first thing I check are tires for chicken strips... if I see none on the rear and very little
up front I know the pace is going to be quick... if I see none on the rear and 1/8 up front I know the pace is
going to be moderate... if I see strips on the rear and front I know the pace is going to be lame...
After all a tire is a terrible thing to waste...

Are you a Biker or Rider???...

49% Bikers have mastered 49% of their motorcycle's ability and bring
their environment to the riding experience...

51% Riders have mastered 51% and above of their motorcycle's ability
and their experience are defined by the environment...

Bikers bring coolness... we all like cool people who nether hope nor
fear too much... who stand slander very well... whom current events
make little or no impression... they are convinced beyond a doubt that
they are right... who will face death with firmness as trees and
animals do...

Riders test coolness... keep your wits over the most demanding
situation... it is by presence of mind in untried emergencies that the
metal of a rider is tested... if you keep your head when all about are
losing theirs... it's possible you have really grasp the situation
more than just grasping handle bars...

Bikers bring comfort... from a easy chair / foots stool to a bike...
forward controls is a logically choice... their bodies lust for
comfort but in a vanity sort of way... being unaware comfortably...

Riders... comfort is a superfluous thing... a softness that will steal
into your life and become the master... being comfortably aware that
luxury consumes more than it produces...

Bikers... mind not how well you ride... but how well they look at
riding... people can say what they will about riding but they cannot
ride just as they will... their looks frequently reveal what their
words are calculated to conceal... relying on a persona which is meant
to suggest that they are not looking for trouble but would just as
soon toss a gesture your way as not...

Riders... are a loose knit group who have mastered 51% or better of
their motorcycles ability... they don't care how much a person talks
about their riding... if... they will only say it in a few words...

Bikers bring together heart for others in their own community...
always made up for the individuals who bond together by locking
themselves in by locking others out... the road to their door is
narrow but the gate... once accepted... is wide...

Rider's will may become perverse in quickness... lust may grow from
it... give into the lust and habit is born... fail resisting the habit
and it becomes a necessity... like links to a chain... it's a force
holding them fast as slaves...

Always keep that last little bit unused....for when you need it. Currently no chicken strips on my front tyre, and 10mm on the rear - I really don't want to know where my front tyre is at 5mm on the rear. I usually run a size larger for that reason.

I dont agree with much of this, looking at the tires makes you a biker? ha!
Many of these sport bike riders would never make it riding 6 hours a day on open interstate at 80MPH, though wind, rain, semi's ect.

There are different bikes for different rides and different purposes.
There are also different roads in different areas.

My first M/S was a brand new Yamaha 125 AS1c twin. I put low bars on it and would buy the used road racing tires Jacks Go Shop would remove from their sponsored race bikes. That was an automatic you are a cool rider by the wear patterns.
