BG products as a whole??

What doe you BITOGers think of BG products as a whole? I have used their 44k, CF5, and RF7 with good results.. just wondering what other experiences people have had/thoughts?
 
I think in general BG makes very high quality products, but I'm not sure how well their additive/cleaner products actually work.

Back when my parents owned my truck, the dealer would sometimes upsell my mom on BG oil additives (MOA I think). At 115K it's running fine, but that probably would have been the case without the BG stuff in the oil. It received these additives very early in life, so they probably did little for it.

Under my ownership though, I had BG full synthetic fluid put in the transmission for two flushes and it worked perfectly. The truck shifted exactly as it does with Mercon V. The only reason I'm using Mercon V now is the dealer was more convenient this time around than the indy shop that sells the BG.
 
Their through-the-rail fuel injection cleaner does seem to help with cleaning the spark plugs in Ford's 3-valve Modulars for removal just like the BG guy says. Since I've started using a 50-50 mix of cheap spray carburetor cleaner & Kroil as a soak from the top side, I don't find it necessary for that purpose anymore. I take it as a good indication that it probably will do it's job.

The penetrating oil is completely unimpressive as a penetrating oil. As a thin oil that breifly foams up (I assume from boiling solvent) it is convenient for many things.
 
I see some BG machines at a few auto repair shops in my area. I'm sure their products actually if shops spend the money on BG equipment.

I think their professional stuff is ok..

some of their fix in a can stuff.. not so sure about.
 
We used to own a B&G transmission fluid exchange machine I picked up at an auction years ago. It was nothing but a cabinet with a bladder and a reservoir! Just basically air.

The only thing worth much was a huge tray of adapters for almost any trans line.

Most of their products are OK, but I bet there's a few that don't do much.

I'll be interested to see how well their new system for cleaning DI intake valves performs.
 
So will I.

No liquid that doesn't vaporize quickly will be effective in most modern cars because of the intake being 'dry'. If you just squirt in liquid you get horribly uneven distribution.

Some of the Mazdaspeed 3/6 owners are removing the intake manifold and cleaning the valves by hand; walnut shell blasting, aggressive solvents, etc. Me, I'd prefer to avoid that if possible.
 
I respect BG more than the other ones (MOC, Wynn's, Run-Rite, etc). Their tech articles and claims actually make sense and they make an effort to stay up-to-date with changes in the industry. They also do some pretty neat tests, such as the BG Fuel Test; I do not see Wynns, MOC or other companies doing similar things. Also, BG appears to constantly update their products to ensure their effectiveness with the newest designs.

BG's new GDI cleaning system involves a manual cleaning method, from what I understand.

No DI motors here by choice, but if I had one I'd use Kreen and put some in a DIY spray can, pressurize it to high psi and spray it into the throttle body while the engine was running. Smaller particles will get more places and vaporize easier thus getting to the issues.
 
A simple nitrous injection kit might be an easy way to do a weekly maintenance cleaning so you don't need to do a manual cleaning as often.
 
BG44 is a strong cleaner. Useful with older or newer fuel systems.
I still prefer the Techron types if I have a choice for FI systems.

I fully agree, but with MOST DI'd engines we are at the mercy of forced induction and cannot remove the intercooler to do this "trick"... therefor we must use a vacuum hose that hits ALL cylinders and do it more often. This is coming from experience on my speed3.
