BG oil additive from Subaru dealership?

Hi Folks,

Just picked up a slightly used 08 Subaru legacy 2.5i (normally aspirated)

Dealership did an oil change before I picked it up.

They use Kendall oil and add BG oil tratment to all cars.
I hate additives in oil and no nothing of this BG stuf.

Will it thicken the oil too much for a New England winter?
I'm tempted to just change it out myself early. ( I do all oil myself)
car has 9000 miles.

BG MOA? It's harmless, though I'm not sure if it lives up to its hype.

At the conclusion of the triple-length, 240-hour test, it was still well within the viscosity limits with an increase of only 198 percent.

BG is one of the better snake oil companies. BG MOA should do no harm, but it is not needed in today's oils. It is especially not needed in a new engine.
