I pick the car up Thursday.

So what is the best place to buy BMW parts on the Internet? I assume dealer prices for parts are going to be obscene.

I'm looking to get:

1. TWS 10w60
2. Oil filter
3. Air filters
4. Cabin filters
5. Other parts?

IIRC, there is Tischer BMW out of Maryland, I think their website was getbmwparts.com. Do some checking on that, I don't have their info available anymore. Another good reference is bimmerfest. They have a tone of forums for almost all the different models and they get a lot of traffic.

Yes, E39 M5. Checking out bavauto.com, they look excellent! Thank you very much!

Wow.... TWS is more money than Redline

Best price for all filters is Rockauto.
MANN Oil Filter HU9384X - $6.48
MANN Air Filter C26151 - $9.65.
MAHLE Air Filter LX422 - $9.83
MANN Cabin filter CUK27362(Set of 2 with Activated Charcoal) - $16.06

Shipping is not so high if you buy several items at once, if those items are shipped from the same location.

Amazon.com price is a little higher, but free shipping for orders $25 or more to 48 states in US, not sure about Canda shipping.

Yes, the issue may be the shipping to Canada..... USPS is great, UPS charges brokerage and it is usually ridiculous.

Dealer price is very high, but you may want to stay with German brands if possible. MANN, MAHLE, HENGST ... are good German parts for BMW, MB and Audi.

HTSS-TR is correct about rockauto being very reasonable. They are a great resource, they just do not always have everything you need as I have experienced for my vehicles.

I have used Rockauto and Bavauto shipped to Canada. Both were reasonable. A good friend of mine has used Tischer BMW for a bunch of stuff sent to Canada and was pleased as well.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate your input regarding Canadian shipping.

First thing will be oil and filters (of course).

I think I'll just stick to the TWS 10w60 for now and enjoy the car.

Last time I bought Mann filters from Amazon.com

Their parts selection process is clunky and it's difficult to be certain that you are going to get the right part.

I have shopped at BavAuto.com before. There is also ECSTuning.com where I have bought parts for BMW and Audi.

There are NO fees to be paid to the UPS delivery guy if you buy from Rockauto because Rockauto has Canadian agents who process the Customs paperwork. Rockauto charges the UPS shipping fee and also charges the HST(13% for you and me) but there are absolutely no other charges. This way you even save the $5 USPS handling charge.

Rockauto has great prices. I recently bought some parts for my Sierra - a six pack of Wix oil filters etc etc and a spare Delco ignition module. The Delco module cost me $92 + $12 (share of shipping charge) for a total of $104.

Canadian Tire wanted $155 for an aftermarket(not Delco)ignition module.

Rockauto shipping charges become high when they ship from different locations. That is one thing you have to watch out for.
