Either an all gas or hybrid SUV that is good quality and reliable - talk me out of a Toyota Highlander as currently it checks more boxes than anything else I have found to date in a mid size SUV .

P.S. No Hyundai / Kia please as I just completed a 12 step program on making bad previous decisions .

Third row or not? Other than the Highlander not having a soul it's not a bad choice. I would check out the Pilot. I believe the Pathfinder now has the ZF9 paired to the VQ so that would be worth a look too.

2024 or earlier Toyota 4Runner with 4.0L V6 24V MPFI. 🎯

2025 they went crazy with Port/DI and/or turbo. You have to wait 3-5 years to make sure it works!

I got my 5.7L V8 MPFI Tundra before they went turbo crazy with tons of issues!

We've had the Pilot Elite now for seven weeks and don't have any regrets yet. Took it on a 4k trip already and it was not fatiguing at all. Moved from an Audi Q5. The seats sit firm, but not uncomfortably.

My next-door neighbor checked it out and bought one exactly like it except for the interior color (our gray vs their black). They're loving it, having driven a Kia for many years.

Wifey loves her RX450h F Sport, if it is big enough for you...

I like the size of the Kia Sorento , I like that it is an SUV that sits up high (easier access in and out with bad legs) , 3rd row seat I am neatral on . The new Mazdas SUV’s that sit lower like a car are a no - go. While I like the size and higher seating of the Kia Sorento , I won’t buy one because I’m tired of Hyundai / Kia engine reliability issues.

My wife and I work for the same company, although I travel way more than she does. Any who, we ended up in a Highlander for a week in the Florida panhandle and loved everything about it. Mpg was just, OK, but the car itself made up for that. I’m not into paying more for a car than I did for my 1st house, so never even considered it. My suv is a 2018 Nissan rogue midnight edition that we bought for her new and is now a 3rd car, although gets driven a lot. Folks here rip on Nissan so whatever, but, it’s been one of the best cars we’ve ever owned! It’s sets @110k and minus maintenance (which I’m over the top about) has never had a nut or bolt turned on it. It routinely gets over 30mpg, loaded down, uses no oil and still has no body rattles and no rust. My daughter bought an enclave, which is super nice, but @70k has had mechanical issues, mostly electrical, although it does go through rotors…a lot!. She should be a test pilot for car and driver but, still.
