I have a ton of flower beds, tons of plant life, bushes, shrubs, fence rows, etc. etc. My neighbors and I all have big mature tress (Oak and Maple mostly). So, I'm always dealing with picking up leaves.

Last year I bought a Stihl leaf blower (I think a BG56) and I like it. It could be a little more powerful, but it gets the job done. But it doesn't work in getting the leafs out of the beds and bushes/shrubs at all. Leaves are stuck in the fence all the time and in and around all my annuals.

So, I thought a handheld leaf vac would come in quite handy....to simply go around and suck up the little boogers where the leaf blower can't blow them free.

Anyone have any good experience with one? I know a lot of them are combo's: blower/vac's. I could always sell my Stihl if I end up getting a good, high end combo unit.

I'm willing to spend some $$$$$$$ on a nice unit. But I want it handheld if I can.

It doesn't appear that the Stihl model gets very good reviews.

Thanks in advance.

I've used the Toro blowers with the vac attachments. When conditions are dry, they can create a lot of dust. With big piles, I'd rake them then shred with the gas-powered mower with a bag.

It won't be nearly as dusty with leaves in grass.

Ive got a Black&Decker Leaf Hog and am very pleased with it. Has good suction and mulches the leafs and a catch bag. Dump the mulch into the wifes worm beds to be composted. Bought it several years ago and think l paid around $70 for it at Lowes.
110 volt and has enough power to chew up small pine cones. DD

I really would like gas powered if possible. But thanks dinkydau.

if I can't find what I'm looking for, I might go for the Leaf Hog. People seem to like it. I'm just not a fan of extension cords.

I had a ryobi long ago. Piston rod broke after a lot of hard use. I bought an echo with the capability when we bought our home, but have never used it.

I was happy enough with that ryobi back in the late 90's that I'd bet any better unit (like an echo) should be great.
