I am not a fan of Beretta, hopefully this doesn't result in the downfall of Ruger because Ruger really has amazing reliable handguns and hunting rifles especially on the more affordable end.

There was a similar thread a while back.

I do not like the idea of conglomerates owning gun companies. To much power in the hands of corporate America.

Beretta, excellent guns, Ruger excellent....... guns leave it at that.

Another thing comes to mind:

Ruger touts, Rugged, reliable firearms, which they do make......but, one of things that make Ruger valuable, is its sales, not unlike any other company. If Beretta acquired Ruger, I can see their sales plummeting. Many folks, when it comes to guns, want to buy USA. USA made, USA owned. Folks who buy Ruger, in many cases, buy because of that reason, or at least start their gun buying choice with Ruger, because they make an affordable, reliable gun, MADE in the USA, buy an American company.

I venture to say, Ruger would go by the way of Colt, when CZ bought that train wreck. Another name sake, gone due to poor choices.

The NRA article eludes to one company being able to help the other in different areas. I call BS. If Beretta wanted to make a revolver, of high quality, and affordability, like the GP100, they could. Not rocket science, not a industry starting product.

They would be buying a stake in the biggest gun market in the world, and buying into a name, that might be worth a whole lot less, if not American owned.

Springfield Armory had a big market share hit when they had their anti-gun controversy years ago, big sales loss.
