It sounds like GM managed to find the "sweet spot" with the Silverado's OEM pad/rotor selection.
On my daughter's Grand AM it was a different story. The dealer replaced the front brake pads/rotors three times with OEM during the 36K warranty period due to pulsing pedal.
The next time, out of warranty, I replaced them with Autozone import stuff and they went over 50K (on the brakes)with no problems -then she sold it. Go figure.
