This. Aftermarket stuff has become too much work to find in decent quality and the OEM prices are usually pretty competitive from places like Turner Motorsports, BavAuto, Maranello BMW...etc.

That is true, but sometimes the car company will discontinue their own parts, and make aftermarket replacement parts the only option. I remember having a hard time getting 1/2 of the parts for an onld Acura that had a longitudinal engine.

I forgot what Acura it was, but it was larger than a Vigor. It also used a 90 degree SOHC V6 instead of an inline 5.

Ok, this thread is winding down.

I will mention my aftermarket shocker. I ordered radiator hoses and got Uro.
I wanted Gates. I emailed Gates. I was informed by Gates that Gates was the best.
I always thought they were good. I was told by many that Uro wasn't to be trusted as they relabel parts like so many others.
I returned them for Gates (radiator) and OE Volvo parts (heater hoses).

Isn't it funny that NOBODY wants to estimate hose longevity today.
I figured 12-13 years and 174K is old enough for rubber hoses.

What do you think? Kira

Of course Gates thinks they are the best.

OEM is the best, but not always an option. Gates is suitable with better fitment than Dayco.

The supposedly exact fit Dayco upper rad hose for my truck has totally incorrect bends and will not fit my truck at all. I checked over a period of about two years...Dayco is a no go. Gates at least fits, but not as perfectly as OE.

OE Motorcraft hose with preinstalled constant tension clamps = win.

Aftermarket has become a total shot in the dark, regardless of how trustworthy the brand used to be. Sometimes you get a part that may even be improved over OE, if not basically OE, but much of the time the part has inferior fit/finish/quality, and it seems very few aftermarket brands are universally trustworthy anymore.

I agree with the above statements!

Just ask Moog.

This hits the nail on the head!

Business today is getting really low brow, seems like a form of conartistry if you ask me...gain the customers trust over time and then start quietly sourcing junk, hope the scam keeps working to squeeze good profit out of the customer until they discover the shell game. LOL

It would have been the RL, then, with Honda's C35A V-6 engine.

If it was out at the same time as the Vigor, it would've been a Legend (later renamed the RL).

Just received a pair of Beck Arnley sway bar end links from rock auto...both are sealed units made in Taiwan...looks decent quality to me.
