I have a marginal marine battery on a BatterMinder. Been testing it every day or two with a conductive battery tester. One time it tests pretty good and the next time bad. I could not figure out what was causing odd readings. But then I got it.
I was using the SS nut on the threaded stud to connect the test leads to. But sometimes the test lead was connecting to the lead surface the SS stud comes out of.
I eventually realized what the cause was. I should be doing the testing connecting to the normal lead posts not the SS stud or nut.
