I am about to paint my calipers with some 2k caliper paint. Before I do that I need to remove decades of grease and grime. At what temperature and for how long should I bake the calipers to get the deep grease and grime out?

Do you have acces to a ultrasonic machine ?

Remove the pistons and o rings and then pressure wash or chemical dip them

Unless you plan to leave them intact to spray them

its stripped down to the casting. I know ultrasonic does a great job on my gun stuff and baked on carbon. Cast Iron is porous wouldnt I want to bake it out?

I believe when my powdercoat guy gets them he heats them up to clean them

I know when my chrome guy gets them he has really hot soap bath they hang in after the large stuff is pressure washed off

And some things get a good hot ultrasonic with various soaps

I cannot see a typical oven getting too hot to damage the steel whatsoever. Many steels are baked at about 4-600 degrees after tempering to add toughness and stress relieve the hardness in the steel. 500 should be no problem.

I would degrease heavily, with dawn dish soap, then bake for an hour, then degrease again and repeat. Allow to cool naturally.

Get permission from the wife or do it when she is not around.
