Maybe more time is needed. I just find it hard to believe there was that much of a difference.

The RP might have not been the right grade or the right additive package for your particular rear end, not all fluids work with all rear ends, people mess this up constantly. Additive packages play a huge part in how the rear end holds up. As far as the trans, depends on what mustang you have you might have actually required automatic transmission fluid and used the wrong fluid or something. Ive never had an issue with RP oil or transmission fluid, and their oil made a world of difference in my friends mustang.

Back then I shop everything from americanmuscle.com, I think the max gear is for rear end and Synchromax for the 5 speed. When I pour in , it kinda purple, when the ford dealer drain it, it look like water.

I`d bought one awhile back that had smushed media,so I returned it. Thinking about it now,I should`ve kept it and cut it open :^) Well, the way I see it,I put over 300K on my Olds with Fram OCOD`s,135K on my 3000GT with them,so I`m just going to keep using Fram from now on,except I`ll buy the TG`s.

finally, sanity returns to the board.........

Had you changed the oil and left the filter then I'd say it was the oil, now we have reasonable doubt and might have to drop the charges against the oil. LOL All kidding aside I think it was the filter.

One thing weird that I did notice when screwing the filter on,it "wobbled" per se. Have you ever played a 45 rpm record and the hole in the middle is off center, causing it to rotate in an eliptical/oblong pattern? That`s the best way I can describe it.

Anyway, was in Walmart a few min ago and temptation got the best of me.........I bought an *SN* rated jug of Mobil 1 10W40HM and a Fram TG oil filter for my next oci :^)

AGREED!

Lifter noise is alarming, but perhaps the sluggish feeling was panic induced?
