With all the "backyard blending" going on, I'm curious if you can make some really great oils or is it just a waist of time.

I've always thought Delvac 1 could benefit from a healthy dose of Moly which could come from blending in some Redline.

Are there any "killer" DIY formulas out there??

How would anyone know if a particular brew was killer or not? It is not like any of the brewmeisters are going to have any kind of standardized test results.

Yes, absolutely. But only if one knows more than the chemists, engineers, and other oil formulators at Pennzoil, Mobil, Castrol, etc. If not, then...well, you know the answer.

The closest I've seen to a "horse's mouth" answer was a Chevron website which stated yes, it's OK to mix different weights of the same brand, but not OK to mix brands, even though motor oils are meant to be compatible. Keep in mind that Castrol GTX and Castrol Syntec are two DIFFERENT brands, for example.
