Sulfur= it is a Antiwear additive ?

I'm asking because my UOA since I changed the brand of oil shows a obvious increase of Sulfur with the absence of Moly (no moly in new oil)
thanks

ZDDP = zinc dialkyl dithio phosphate. The "thio" is another word for sulfur.

Sulfonate contains sulfur in the compound
http://engineering.ripi.ir/Project/major/CALCIUM SULFONATE.htm

None of these contain elemental sulfur, the yellow powder. The EPA has near-future sulfur levels so low in fuels that they are now concerned about lowering sulfur levels in engine oil. We may see sulfur-free additives partly or completely replace these sulfur-containing additives.
