Yes, I would really rather have a Buick. I'd forgotten that ad campaign was used as early as 1964; I thought it was more a late Sixties, early Seventies campaign.

these '60's ads are real funny; "brakes that stay with you"? where were they going to go? "switch pitch" tranny? how many people really knew what that meant? "more carefully placed insulation"? what, were they careless before? great looking car, all the '65 GM A bodies were cool.

The predecessor to it - the 225 c.i. 90 degree V-6. It was sold to AMC in that size, and used in Jeeps in the early 1970's. Then Buick bought back the tooling for it in 1974, enlarged it to 231 c.i., and put in in the Skyhawk subcompact first in 1975, and then the rest of the line in 1976....
