I remember back in that day when my parents ooed and awwed at that car wishing they could afford it.
 
Your timing is impeccable, given that Pontiac is alledgedly getting the axe from GM.

These are the good old days.
 
That ad appeared just two weeks before I was born.

A big handsome two-tone car . . . but imagine how hot you'd be inside it at the beach in summer, without today's air-conditioning. A/C units were available on some Oldsmobiles, Cadillacs, and Lincolns (I think), but most cars had the classic 4/60 climate control: "Four windows down, sixty miles an hour."
