Automatic car horn

On the 96 buick roadmaster, my horn has been sensitive since the day I bought it. Barely had to touch the steering wheel for it to go off. Starting about a year ago, sometimes when I press it and let go it would keep sounding until it went off on its own. Sometimes it would take minutes when I'd be driving around ha. Recently it's gotten worse. I woke up around 3am not once but twice on 2 different nights to someone outside sounding their horn. I was thinking 'who's this a**hole sounding their horn in the middle of the night' only to find out it was the horn in my car! I have taken out the fuse in the meantime but now no horn. What's the problem? And how does it get fixed? Thanks.

The horn circuitry is in your steering wheel. If there is no airbag, take it apart, and fix it. There might even be a rebuild kit, with new springs and new contacts, etc. Basically, yours has worn out. If there is an airbag, I'd be very careful about working on it yourself, and perhaps have a shop repair it. It should be less than $100 to fix at a shop, and free to cheap to do it yourself.

I have the same problem, during winter, horn goes bonkers. I simply pull the relay and put it back in Spring.

Don't those have 4 horns and sound really loud?

Early-70s Chrysler cars liked to do that---including my parents' Dodge.

get the service manual and lookup the circuit to the horn(s). There may
be a relay that powers the horn with a fat Positive wire that you trigger
with a thinner 12v line. if that's the case, then its a sticky relay.
they should be a octal socket plug-in.
