Thomas always gives a great review and this is another thorough one including a Autobahn drive

This particular car was assembled in Shanghai if I caught the remarks correctly.

Funny you posted this. I just saw the same review this morning. Excellent as always and his final remarks are rather interesting.

He did like it. I recall one previous review where he pointed out the fit and finish not up to par and things like body gaps that were uneven all which are not supposed to be on any car but especially a premium one like the Tesla.

I was interested in his remarks on the instant torque and how it could affect passengers. The driver should be aware of that. A long trip would be tiring at the least and nauseating at the extreme. There is something to be said about a smooth ride and being considerate. That one pedal drive will be a learning curve for most.

I am curious to see how the Berlin cars turn out... The Model Y is kinda strange looking, depending on color. At least to me.
But owners love 'em.

The fit and finish is better than the earlier cars, but as they say, you never get a 2nd chance at a 1st impression.

The 1 pedal driving is the first thing people notice, after the quiet... And of course no key, no start button; get in and the car is on. "Huh?"
They go for the brake and the car almost violently slows. But once you get used to it, you are spoiled. I rarely touch the brake pedal. I set regen to high. Letting others drive the car is a kick. Driver's eyes get really wide open.

The car definitely has a learning curve which can be steep for some drivers. Some really don't like it; others fall right in. It is not uncommon to see new drivers pulled over trying to figure out how to do something.

While you see many posts and opinions asking for buttons, etc, IMO you are looking at the future. "Set the temperature to 70 degrees." Teslas are no compromise futuristic and will not be like other cars. They are not for everyone. Who knows?

Great review!
He has the same complaint as me about the lack of a HUD.

I'm 180 off from him on the leather, I'd love it as an option.

I noticed that as well. He prefers the display of information to be in front of him and not to the side.

I don’t know if he is a strict vegetarian or not but if people are going to consume beef then using all of the animal is the proper way to go.

Yes, he seems to be ideologically opposed to leather (you should watch his e-tron review, LMAO!!! All that hide) and is quite excited when marques don't use it.

The vast majority of people will prefer to have information you want access to regularly directly in their line of sight. That's why clusters are located where they are. HUD's are an evolution of that, so you don't even need to take your eyes off the road to know speed, limit...etc.

I fully agree. In a way, comparing this review to the BMW review you posted, it is clear that Tesla is trying to disrupt the automotive world while BMW is transitioning with keeping some hard buttons on the steering wheel and center console. The BMW HUD is ideal in my mind for most drivers.
