i was in auto zone picking up parts and looked at the oil isle (prices on oil were insane must be liquid gold in those jugs) I saw they had new A/C/ delco (not a big selection) that looked like the old good style in newer boxes, i guess they were losing sales with the cheap e core and decided to do something about it...I bought one to cut open to see the real quality but my brother used it... I will either buy another one or wait for him to put his usual 6000 miles on it and cut it open then

Autozone has high prices on oil when they aren't on sale, I can get any oil I need at Walmart. Not a big fan of the e-core design either.

I seriously doubt the average consumer would know enough about the design to even have an opinion about it. Not every filter size is even offered in E core. Were the size/sizes you looked at ones that aren't offered in the e-core design?

It's obvious that the holes in the paper between the cage is less restrictive than having to go through the paper. LOL

Yeah, because all ecore will have a hole after normal use.

Good conclusion! thumbsup LOL

i always used the non e core delco filters but when they went e core I changed to purolator i like the purolator because the holes in the filter are pretty big... the delco filters have more oil holes but they are smaller

If you're refering to Delco filters. PF-45 is long discontinued, PF-24 will work if space allows, but that part number is become hard to find as well, Pep Boys still has a few. Purolator # L30005, L20123, L20033 also interchange. PF-52 non e-core can still be had at Advance Auto parts, and Autozone. Not familiar with PF-46.
