I am helping my friend with his 2000 A4 1.8T, since his CEL is illuminated.
I scanned the codes and came up with this:
- p1113 - Bank 1 Sensor 1 internal resistance too high.
- p1136 - Long Term Fuel Trim Add. Fuel System too lean.
This would seem to me to be a simple O2 sensor problem. However, since the O2 sensor is pretty expensive, I was hoping for a little input before we go ahead and replace it.
A few questions. It seems to me that the p1113 problem is actually causing the p1136 problem. Does it stand to reason that a new O2 sensor would correct both codes?
Secondly, my understanding is that Bank 1 typically means driver's side and sensor 1 typically means closest to the front of the car (and as such, upstream of the catalyst). Can anyone confirm my understanding? I'm guessing this car has only two sensors, one likely in the exhaust manifold (4 cylinder car) upstream of the catalyst, and one after cat.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
