I've never had the uncontrollable itch to own one, but, if you have that itch ya better scratch it soon. FN has decided to axe the extremely expensive but quite nice SCAR platform. PSA has a few .308's left in stock at $3399

Might be a decent investment piece if you just happen to have 35 bones laying around that need a new home. You might find some at other locations, I'm not interested enough to go searching tho....

I kinda always sorta wanted one, but not enough to pay 3-4x what I can buy a decent AR10 for.

The SCAR is a very durable weapon, very reliable, accurate, but with a harsh recoil in 308. I recently saw one for $3100 on Gunbroker, in Woodland camo.

I would not buy one for that price however. If I had an extra $3500 for a gun, it would be likely that I could afford $4500, in which case, an HK MR762 would be my high dollar choice.

IMO, the AR10 is the best semi auto 308 platform, so agreed @mr_boring

I picked up a Springfield M1A SOCOM II right before they went disco. My friend owned the gunstore where I bought it and he said people would literally offer 2 and 3 times what I paid for mine. I wonder if SCARs are going to be that popular.

I’ve shot an Sig 7.62 (model 716 iirc) quite a bit. It’s certainly not as enjoyable as a 5.56 rifle to shoot a lot.

I can imagine the SCAR being similar. Especially given the price…

I bought a 17 during the Obama administration and did a carbine class with it. Yeah… it was brutal. It’s been sitting in the back wall of the safe for a while now.
