Hi guys! I'm currently using 10w-30 in my 3.8L Camaro but am thinking of trying out some GC.

I've read that my engine likes a thicker 30w and that the GC is a thick 30w...of course it is 0W-30 and I live in the Bay Area.

So I guess my question is at what temp does the oil "change" from the 0W to the 30? Hope that made sense.

Well, good question, wrong information.

GC is an SAE 30 weight oil at a temperature of 100 C.

The "0" indicates the oil would behave as an equivalent 0 weight oil at 0-32 F. This means it should flow very well in cold weather.

The "30" means that it is designed to have the thickness, viscosity, stability of a 30 weight oil when hot, as in a running engine.

GC is probably a good choice for this coming winter.

Use it and do UOA's and post it here for comparison.
