at what age do seniors get senior pricing?

i am 58 this year. when i was younger , senior prices i always thought were 65 and older . in my experience that kinda started when i turned 50 , i found out that a casino buffet a few miles from me considered senior 50 and over. another casino its 55. most restaurants though in my experience consider 65 a senior/

i understand its up to the establishment, but am just curious what others have experienced

In general, it's about 62 near me. The casinos in Vegas seem to start senior discounts at 50.

Join AARP at 50. It costs almost nothing, and an AARP membership qualifies you for a lot of discounts, such as motel/hotel chains.

I still remember the first time I got a Senior discount. I was about 38 years old, eating at a Shoneys, and the waitress, who was about 18, gave me the discount without asking. I got a laugh out of that, same like when I discovered my first gray hair.

I waive the Senior discount at the hair cutters, as I am in my mid 70s with a full head of hair.

I'm sure that some supermarkets, etc. had age 55 discounting one day a week in the 2000's. Until I got there, then it was 60. Then it was 62. Nearly all that I seem to notice are now 65. I'm waaay past that. If I happen to be in the right supermarket on a Tuesday, I'll ask for the 5%. On very rare visits to a Burger King, I ask for the 10% discount and have always received it. I think that McDonald's senior deal at one time, was a free small coffee. Senior discount on admission prices to a museum or show seem to have largely disappeared or are a token $1 or $2.

When they offer me a senior discount, I always feel let down. I don't want to be recognized as a senior.

And I hate it when young 20 something girls call me sir.

That's what I've discovered. And the requirements for providing proof of age may vary quite a bit as well.

Out here it's 65 if you want the, "Full Monty". The bigger grocery stores generally have a 10% senior discount the first Wednesday of each month. One of them also gives out discount coupons for another 10% every time you shop there. (You need to have at least 5 coupons to get the 10%).

So we usually go and double up for a 20% discount on the first Wednesday of each month. We get a lot of meat, salmon, and other higher priced items. The savings add up.

I have seen places as low as 55 to the standard 65... Also sometimes they would give it to you if you looked old also... I got gray hair early in life and was getting a discount when I was in my early 50s....Gray hair has its privileges...but at least I have a full head of hair at 69 years old..

It all depends on the person or business. Ask the age which qualifies and show the ID.

It varies. I have seen nothing etched in stone.
