A teenager was struck by a car when he stepped out into a traffic lane from between two parked cars while texting. While people were trying to help him and place a pressure bandage on his injured and bleeding leg he continued to text. When the police arrived and started asking him questions he asked them where they wanted him to send that information.

I guess young people don't want to be interrupted with trivial matters when they are engaged with their smart phone.

Some of our family get togethers have been the same way expecially during the holidays. I find this appalling!. At my house, if anyone is texting or playing on their smart phones while we're at the dinner table, I will literally grab the device and throw it out in the back yard. And I'm not Frikken kidding!

It is appalling. And rude.

I've done the same as you. Except worse, when after repeatedly asking a step-child to stop texting when I am speaking to him...I grabbed it out of his hands and walked out to the driveway and hurled the device directly onto the concrete.

He listened to me after that.
