I know this is on BITOG somewhere but I couldn't find it. Amsoil/Mobil use ASTM D 4683 and RL uses the ASTM D 4741. Does anyone know the differences? This is for HT/HS btw.

Thanks!

Are you wanting to know how Redline gets a HT/HS of 3.8 for their 20wt oil by chance ?

Yeah it was mentioned in another thread that RL 5w-20 has a HT/HS of 3.3 The website does state that off the PDF they have of all their oils.

I would like to know this also. I see that on the SAE J300 chart the two test protocols, ASTM D4683 and D4741, are used interchangeably. I'm still skeptical that they produce the same HTHS value.

Sigh...I'm just going to have to break down one of these days and spend the $250. for the ASTM book.
