Used to be a lot of threads touting the merits of this oil, but i don't see that many anymore (certainly not like before). Has this oil fell out of favor?

Also, anyone using their 9000? Can you use this in a gasoline engine?

I have used it, but it is too pricey when you can get the good Mobil 7500 PAO blend for cheaper and don't have to buy 4 cases at a time to do it.

In limited areas,I am.In my nephews' Escort ZX2,Schaeffers 5w-20 + Lube Control with Fuel Power got the best fuel economy ever,40+ MPG highway on one trip.Overall averages were still at least 1 to 3 MPG better than any OTC motor oils we've tried.
Schaeffers grease has been the only grease I'll mail order for the past 4 years.

Penetro90 and Citrol still are the standard by which others are compared.

i stopped using the 9000 oil because it is a group 3/4 and i feel schaeffers is using the castrol ruling to say that its a full synthetic when in reality it is a shortcut to a true synthetic..i am using redline and motul and i will still be using delvac 1 instead of schaeffers 9000...i don't care what additives it has in it or how good i want a true synthetic!!! it is actually a blend..

schaeffers is hard to deal with..you have to buy in bulk...just too much hassel...i use to use neutra 131 but switched to lc20 and fp60..the only thing i use of schaeffers is the moly ep 132..

yep, the purchase issue makes it too tough... its one thing if you want ot buy a few bottles of neutra or 132... or even grease.

But to have to buy $250 worth to get out of shipping is just too much... Maybe if regional or state group buys were set up... but still, you need to buy enough to cover until the next buy.

I wish I could... the group doesnt bother me... schaeffers makes a good product.

Since wal mart's delvac 1 / M1 T&S/TDT no longer seems to exist, I may rethink my selection for the MB diesel.

Actually this has changed to $300 for free shipping. Fuel costs.

I am using the 15W40 in my 01 PSD. Excellent oil. When I run out of old stock, I will change to the 5W40.

I am using the Schaeffers transmission fluid in my 95 E40D.

I can't handle a full $300 order. I order on another guys order that lives about 65 miles away. Then when it comes in he brings it up when he is in town on business.

yep, thats the way to do it...

Maybe we need a 'group buy' forum so that folks can set stuff like that up. At least us east coast folks can probably find it relatively convenient to set up a buy with other folks... things are a bit closer together here.

It might help support all site sponsors this way... and maybe bring in new ones too!

Fortunately here in Gillette, Wy., a local oil dealer carries Schaeffers. Sells it by the quart or case and gives industrial discounts to walk in customers who work where he sells lube. Use oil, grease from him in cars and trucks. Ran a comparo against Mobil 1 and Schaeffers won. Now trying S.T. 5-30 Syn against Schaeffers in a 95 Escort. Should both be good oil but time will tell.

Yes, I am absolutely still using Schaeffer's.

Yes, I'm using the 9000 in two VWs (1.8T and 2), and in my boat. Other cars/trucks/lawn stuff gets 5w30. Everything that uses grease gets #274 except the trailer ball gets #238 and the garage door opener screw gets some 00 #221. Both differentials on my Silverado contain #293 gear oil.

Yes I am.

The bump in the free-shipping floor seems to coincide with the product price increase, so the quantity delivered doesn't change all that much. Just the price (nudging $300 for seven cases).

As prices on all the premium oils are climbing, the 7000 is still a better value than many full-syns, Even straight conventional stalwarts like Havoline are easing closer and closer to the $2/qt. mark.

I sure do miss the days of .25/qt oil in cans.

isn't there some ind. sales rep that will sell in quantities other than seven cases? what does 1qt of 7000 cost? how about 1qt of 9000?

That's why i stopped using "BOTIQUE" oils and just use a good brand name widely available in stores. Delo, Rotella, Havoline etc. I got tired of the hassle of ordering and dropping large amounts of money on it.

As for greases... I LOVE Lucas HD grease. in my 4x4 it's the only stuff that'll stand up to beatings. and we sell it at Advance!

I've got enough for one more change in my Jeep and I'm out. I probably won't be ordering bulk anymore as it's easier to find other oils locally. I would be in for a east coast buy though.....

Sure there are. But when you add in shipping on smaller orders, the value disappears.

I've purchased from a previous site sponsor, Mill's Outdoor Power Equipment in Texarkana, AR. They sell in any quantity you want. But I think there is a minimum $$$$ order. At the time the DELIVERED cost of Schaeffer 5W-30 Blend was about $.75/quart less than buying Mobil 1 5W-30 at WM. I still have a case and half left of the 5W-30. I've ordered atf, grease and diff fluids in the quantities I needed and they packed up the order into cartons for shipping. It's convenient to have it shipped to my door. I have a large supply of oil filters courtesy of WM's "closeout" of Motorcraft products. It's nice not having "run" to different stores looking for what I really want but having to settle.

I think BobZoil(Schaeffer 7000 Syn Blend) is *great stuff*- look at a few of my UOA's from a couple of years ago. Just drained a fill about 3 weeks ago after only 3000 miles, and now doing a full-house Auto-Rx clean using some Formula Shell dino. I only have 2 qts of BobZoil left(5w30 SL) for the car, about 1 1/2 qt for the lawn tractor(Schaeffer dino SAE 30) & will probably combine the 5w30 with Havoline for some future oil change. Schaeffer's not so cheap to buy, but it can be *very* cheap to use. Yes, I wish it was easier to get. In the past I bought all my Schaeffer products from the former site sponsor mentioned above, Mills Outdoor Power Equip, but I always drove there to pick it up- about 75-80 miles away from me.

Let me put it like this- if all motor oil cost the same, & was equally easy/hard to obtain, I'd choose Schaeffer Synthetic Blend(BobZoil!

)for my car. And that includes oils like M1, GC, etc. JMO.

If that were the case, I'd be running RL in my lawnmower.
