Are PUP, M1 EP, Castrol EP Gold still the superstars they were years ago?

The ESP flavors have MB approvals. I would say the ESP line is a true, approved extended drain. The others claim 25k miles but ultimately say follow your manufacturers OLM which normally only required API or dexos.
Seems like a great product, but I don't really have an app where I believe it would benefit me right now.

Accord J30A1
ST FS 10K HM 5W-30
Every 12 mo (avg 4,000 mi)

HR-V K20C2 New
Honda FS 0W20
Maintenance Minder
Tracking for 6,000 mi

Everything else is old low mi stuff that gets VR1.

I have a few gallons of the castrol gold 0w20 for my K20C1. Doesn't require it, and I only go 4k between changes, but it's nice to have an approval.

For what it’s worth - Pennzoil , Quaker State and Mobil always had the best 5qrt. jug pricing at WM . Conversely , Valvoline and Castrol had the higher jug pricing at WM . Now with Mobil’s WM price increases (D1 Gen 3 oils ) the waters are a bit more muddied .

Resurrecting my old thread…..

It seems PUP is available fairly consistently on the walmart website and within a couple of bucks of M1 EP/ESP. M1 EP/ESP is plentiful and offered at a consistently good price; note: I’m don’t consider a few dollar difference to be remarkable.

While there is something in my mind that wants me to try the new Castrol Edge EP gold, it only shows out of stock when I browse. After spending wayyyy too much much time thinking about what to switch my wife’s CX-90 over to in a few weeks (with her easy driving and 6 month/5k-ish OCIs, my massive supply of HPL I bought in 2023 is better utilized in my car), I’ve settled on M1ESP after seeing a member here recommend it often for the price/availability.

The gold EP is currently on sale for under $48/6 qts on Amazon.
