I just posted about the Makita 9557PBX1 angle grinder, after looking at it some more I see it has a 5/8 arbor which is fine there are plenty of discs to fit it but if you look up the part numbers for the discs it comes with, I'm confused.

First lets look at the Makita A-95956 it clearly states it is 7/8 arbor.

Next is the Makita A-94552 it states, Arbor: 5/8-Inch, 20mm, 7/8-Inch.

I couple people on Amazon say the arbor nut is reversible for 7/8 but now where on the Makita site does it mention this not even in the online manual.

Is this a common feature on angle grinders and just never mentioned?

I picked up the DeWalt DWE402 at Bomgaars today and it's the same, says arbor is 5/8. I had a guy that worked there help me with a flap disc and it's 7/8 and said the only discs that would fit it are 7/8.

Not sure I understand it but I think things like a wire cup brush that screw on are 5/8 and the discs are 7/8.

The arbor thread is 5/8 and the adapter is 7/8. If you use grinding wheels with a threaded center they are 5/8, if you use non-threaded wheels the hole size is 7/8, either fit and they are standard sizes for grinders 4-1/2" and larger.
