Wife bought a new washer. I had told her to be sure and get one no larger than 27 inches wide. They delivered it today and I was not home. The washer is actually 27- 3/4" wide. They shoehorned it in and hooked it up and it is a jam up fit. I swear the item was advertised as a 27" washer. I hate modern appliances. Now I will have to see about widening the aclove the washer and dryer are in.

I’ve noticed this. Even stoves.

Refrigerators? Forget about it. Sizes all over the map and to fit the cabinets the number of models gets limited really fast
Stoves are pretty good about sizing though you do seem to have wide ones in addition to whatever "standard" width is. I just replaced ours in the past year and didn't give a 2nd thought to measuring the space or check the new one. Dishwashers are pretty good with being a standardized width.

Refrigerators ? No standard really and doesn't need to be. I know some people have theirs inside an open-front "cabinet" and yeah, they've got to pay attention to the width. I think the majority of homes don't have this though.

It’s a NW thing all our houses were built in cabinet fridges
