Apples vs Oranges

Not really a "technical paper" per say, just a brief article, so I thought it would better fit here. Check out this surface data done on an apple and an orange. Pretty neat to see the difference when scaling is involved.

 
All I'm seeing there is someone who doesn't appear to know *** they're doing, deliberately making misleading images instead of setting same scale for both. Okay, now that I skimmed further, the author eventually gets around to this issue of same scale, but suggests it takes some kind of special consideration for half a page, instead of being too obvious to bother mentioning.
