Anyone who has any of the German Castrol...

From what you all are saying, sounds like I need to take it out of my "oil cellar" in the basement (you all do have climate controlled oil cellars, right?) and look at it in the sunlight!

Castrol "R-Synthetic" oils I looked at today (5W-30, 0W-40, and 10W-60) failed to disclose where they were made, or even show the API logo.

Had the generic "meets or exceeds API etcetcetc".

$86 for 5 litres ('cept the 0W-60 at $79). Mobil 1 5W-50 supersyn is $61.

The oil...just like the wine

That's interesting because my bottle of Castrol TWS 10-60 clearly states "made in EU"...and then they add the U.S. API and safety label/sticker on the side of the bottle.

And all the bottles say API SL/SJ/CF and ACEA:A3, B3-98, Jap.Valve..., ILSAC GF-3, Porsche,BMW, Volvo, and Mercedes. German?

I have been using Castrol Synthetic 5W50 for over a year in my track car but never had it tested.
A qt from last yr is M012926A54A1.
A qt from Mar/03 is M020676A45A1.
A qt from AZone on July11[$5] is M031336A45A8. The label is different, has Spanish and Green.
A qt from WalMart on July14[$4] is M031016A99A8. has Spanish and Green. All labels say made in USA from some imported material. No "EU". All are honey colored and taste like my girlfriend.
