I feel that instead of telling our newbies "SEARCH" we might want to set up an FAQ list and tell them to look there for answers to questions like:
What do these letters on my oil containers like API SL or API SM mean?
What do these numbers like 5W30 and 10W40 mean?
What is the best motor oil?
I’ve done 3,000 mile oil changes my whole life. The manual in my new car says I can go 5,000 miles with my driving conditions. Is that really safe?
Who makes Wal-Mart's oil?
How do I get my oil analyzed?

I've got an FAQ started that's maybe one-third of what I'd like it to be with 17 questions in, probably 12 of those answered.
I'm making sure not to link to vendors who don't sponsor the site, although I'm considering some exceptions where the vendors are exceedingly unlikely to steal sales and have interesting sites (Synlube is the example that comes to mind in my "what is the most expensive oil" answer.)

I'd like to handle controversial topics by telling readers, roughly, what the range of opinions and frequently used arguments are, along with some cites for further reading, linking to both internal threads and external links like Noria articles.
Example topics for treatment as controversial:
Anything mentioning 5W20 good/bad?
What's the best oil?
Should I get my oil analyzed?

Opinions on that approach to the controversial items?
