Anyone use use Asus WL-520gC router?

My d-link D-524 is starting to die slowly after 6 years of faithful use. I have to reboot it at least once a week to get the wireless signal back, and I was never able to get Wii to talk to it anyway.
I am looking at Asus Wl-542gc and Lynksys WRT-54GL. Asus is half the price.
I am looking for a stable router, with VPN, WPA2, static IP and MAC filtering capabilities and hardware firewall. It will talk to Wii, two laptops, one print server and a desktop. I will probably stick to factory firmware if it is stable.

Any suggestions? Thanks a lot!

the new linksys arent anything special like the wrt54g were back in the day.

I've had 2 die in under 6 monthes. (wrt54g2)

just find a good router with a good chipset in it..

then if you dont like the firmware (or its buggy)

pop tomato or dd-wrt on it.

some routers by buffalo come to mind.

Get something that will run DD-WRT or Tomato.

I have used DD-WRT and will not go back to factory firmware.
I understand Tomato is good as well, but never have tried it.

For a really cheap router, I know someone that has a Dlink DIR-615 that has been running for a couple years on factory firmware with no problems. Runs without needing reboots all the time.

I've had this Buffalo for about two months. Areas of the house that had no signal now operate at 54mbps on G and 130mbps on N. The newest desktop (ethernet) went from 100mbps to 1Gig. It hooked up to Wii with the push of a button. I am extremely pleased with this unit. Oh, two year warranty also. Amazon had the best price and free shipping. It uses DD-WRT firmware.

Get the WL-520GU, NOT the GC. I believe Bill in Utah had the GC and it was a pile of poo. I've never sold the GC, since the GU has always been very reliable, and will run DD-WRT.

Thanks, looking at right now. D-Link started working again, so maybe I can baby it along a bit more.
