Good morning!

I have a 2007 Buick Rendezvous with the 3.5L LX9 engine. Been toying with the idea of trying a 0W-20 in it.

Why? Just because.

I know it isn't necessary due to climate, I know it's not spec'd that way from factory, and I know it's not going to benefit gas mileage much. I'm simply curious what the UOA will look like compared to my typical M1 5W-30 run.

Anyone here already tried 0W-20 in a GM 60* V6?

Thanks.

I have on a GM 90 degree.

On the '99 Grand Prix, Series II 3800 -- oil pressure sending unit broke and the engine lost most of it's oil.

I fixed the sending unit but only had TGMO 0W-20 in the trunk of the Accord. Filled it up and drove probably 50 miles. No problems that I noticed. I don't think the 3800 is too fussy. I did however drain a couple quarts when home and filled with some 15W-40 Rotella I had on hand.

Member fsskier has several hundred thousand miles on his GM minivan(s) that were equipped with the 3.1/3.4 engines and 20 grade oils (I believe, but am not 100% sure it was on 0w-20). He reported no problems.

Perhaps he'll chime in with the details?

FYI-

2002-2005 Rendezvous had the 3.4L as standard.
2006-2007 had the 3.5L as standard.

The 3.5L DOHC is an older engine that was never used in the Rendezvous.

The 3.6L DOHC was an optional engine for 2004-2005 and a version of what was introduced in the CTS.
