I've been using WIX filters for the last few oil changes, I'm wondering if anyone has torn apart a Wix filter and can describe what they came up with. Thanks

A top quality filter, IMO. Dense media, even (but not packed) pleats, metal end caps, and a silicone anti drain back valve.

Agreed. From a purely visual inspection they seem very good. One of my first filter cutting sessions was with Fram, Wix, Hard Driver, and STP. The wix compared well, especially considering price. I used to buy their ST series filters in half cases.

Dana makes them, and supplies quite a few resellers such as Carquest stores with relabeled product.

Of course, the way mfgrs seem to shift specs, my wix & your fram may be the same.

In Canada, the AC Delco filters are made by Dana in Cambridge ON, so they should be similar in quality to Wix.
