Found a local shop with great reviews and decent prices that I want to try. They offer a $25 oil change for my 4Runner using chevron supreme oil and a toplube oil filter. I've used chevron supreme in my truck before and find it decent. However I can't find any information on this oil filter. Anyone heard of this brand or have any experience with it?

I found a listing for them on eBay and a (positive) mention of them in a Dodge forum. I also found them mentioned on a Fiat tuners page. That's about all I could dig up. No personal experience using them.

Maybe they're made in EU???

Thanks, yes that was the only listing I could find regarding that filter. I can't believe the lack of info on these.

If I had to speculate, jobber cartridge made in China. It's the coo of many cartridge filters, even from the US based filter manufacturers.

That statement right there "should" talk you out of any ideas of using that filter. Take your own and have the local shop use it instead of the completely unknown "Top Lube".

If you're really interested in using the shop, which since you posted I assume you are, you could ask to see the cartridge before having the service done. Imo, you could get a decent idea of construction. Just depends on how badly you want to use this shop.

Yup, that is what I would do.

If made in China, probably the same as all the other MiC filters, decent filter for the price.

Just to clarify my 4Runner doesn't use a cartridge filter, it's a can on the 1gr-fe

My bad, just looked at the pic for the cartridge application for the Abarth. lol. I'd stick to same coo guess though. Yeah, in that case the only way to tell would be to cut one open before hand. If me and I was that concened, I'd either bring my own filter or go elsewhere. As noted, the post use jobber filter anecdotes with the that coo generally appear well constructed.

I may just take a gamble and go for it. I'll be listening to any startup rattle when I turn the engine on in the morning to see if there's any dry starts/bad adbv or if there's any decreased flow.
