Anyone familiar with the old Ubiquiti Video Software?

Over the weekend I managed to get my new to me Lenovo ST250 fully up and operational, but failed miserably getting my existing perfectly working and trouble free unifi video system merged over. It is so badly messed up that I most likely will need to start from scratch.

I cannot remember how you get the cameras to adopt in the freshly loaded software. The status shows "managed by other". I did properly backup the config and when I restore it, the software kind of works until the sever needs to be rebooted, then all the cameras cannot ever be seen again and you have to reinstall the software.

I do not want to abandon this outdated software just yet as I want one server / appliance doing these tasks; file server, print server, plex server, hyper v server, and NVR server. I can certainly go buy a unifi protect nvr and it will be the latest and greatest, but I do not want another 30 ~ 40 watt appliance.

I know with the newer Unifi stuff, you have to reset the cameras to adopt them to a "new" system if the backup/restore of the config file doesn't work. I just recently did this, taking a single demo camera from a UDM Pro, and moving it to an NVR Pro. I was able to backup/restore the Protect config from the UDM -> NVR, but I know that when it first detected the camera, prior to that being done, it told me I needed to reset the camera to allow the new system to adopt it.

So the ubiquiti community is not very helpful in using this old software. It looks like i am on my own. Any direction I should look as to why I can get the system up and running, restore my backup config and then if ever I need to start / stop the unifi video service OR reboot the server for any reason the camera will all show offline until I reinstall again.

Its all about not wanting to add a second physical appliance. Just want one server to do everything.

What about resetting the camera and letting the system readopt it, is this not an option?

Im trying not to do that. I have to get a ladder out and unhook every camera and then use a paper clip to do a hard reset.

Now that you mention it, Over the weekend I may trash the entire install, and also do this invasive reset and see what happens.

Last night I installed this on W10, and on Server 2019 which I had this exact config running on for years and the same glitch happens. So maybe my config file has a bug in it.

Is one of them accessible that you could test with? Before committing to doing all of them?

And yeah, that's certainly possible, that the backed up config has something "not right" in it.

UPDATE

Overkill was correct. My stubborness created a week of downtime for nothing..... It was so foolishly simple I'm embarrassed. I reinstalled the software, restored my config file so all cams were green and working. I then did exactly what was suggested.... "unmanage" all the cameras so they all show unmanaged. Stopped the unifi video service and Uninstalled the program. I went into my edgerouter and assigned a static dhcp map to my server so it Wil never drift. I deleted the unifi video data folder and reinstalled the newest 3.10.13 final version and DID NOT restore a config file. Instead I set it up fresh from scratch, and re adopted all the cams. I have rebooted it many times with no issues now. I am also going to set static dhcp in my router so the cams don't drift either.

I won't need my old recording as I have had no security issues I would need to look back on but it's over and done with. Becuase I did not resote my config, I cannot import my old recordings. Oh well.

Now onto patching the Java log4j security bug. The will be fun to not brick this install.....
