Anyone else have mindset of thinner is better?

As thin as you can go without excess clatter or blowing the thing up. This Frees up power and torque, allows it to rev faster.
You will start to notice racket and loss of top end torque as you get too thin. Depending on how you use your engine will determine your thin tolerance level.
 
Thinner is better for less friction in the oil itself I guess is all I know or wanna know. If there is metal to metal contact, it will be known quickly. More metal to metal results in more friction, not less. Sorry to be not more involved with your topic. I guess it is priority, what is important to worry about, and what is not. Which is a personal decision, not to judge anyone. If it says 0w-16, I put it in, done.
